About Island Childbirth Education

We are a privately run and independent childbirth education company that teaches and supports families in their goal of experiencing natural childbirth.

We believe that childbirth is an amazingly normal event in a woman's life that can affect the way she feels about herself, her family, and the way she sees her place in this world. It is something to look forward to, not something to be 'feared'.

Also, we emphasize that it is only when women have a complete understanding about their maternity and infant care options, that they can truely offer informed consent and take an active role in their health care.

We provide the following support services to birthing women & families within the Greater Victoria area, extending north as far as Duncan, British Columbia:

"The whole point of woman-centered birth is the knowledge that a woman is the birth power source. She may need, and deserve, help, but in essence, she always had, currently has, and will have the power."
- Heather McCue
